On Tuesday, European Council President Costa paid a visit to Skopje, where he met PM Mickoski. After the meeting, they held a press conference, where Council President Costa said the constitutional amendments remained the necessary step forward regarding the EU path.
Asked whether the Council could pass conclusions that would represent guarantees for North Macedonia, he didn’t give a direct affirmative answer, but he said such a possibility could be considered after the country fulfilled obligations assumed in 2022.
The European Council President praised the Government’s progress in implementing the Reform Agenda towards the passage of roadmaps for rule of law and public administration reforms. Mickoski stated that the Government remained firmly committed to the European path.
“We are not asking for privileges, we are not asking for eased rules. We are asking for principles, we are asking for a process in which reforms, hard work, and fulfilled obligations will be truly valued”, the PM noted.
