At a press conference on Monday, Emilija Anevska, who heads the Sanitary Control Sector of the Skopje Water Supply Public Enterprise (PE), presented new information regarding the Gostivar water situation. She explained that samples had been taken from six locations in the city from end-consumers, while in all samples taken across three consecutive days, an absence of coliform bacteria had been registered.
The results have been submitted to the Crisis Staff and to the Food and Veterinary Agency.
“The water can be used for technical purposes, but citizens should not use it for drinking and cooking”, Anevska underlined.
At the same press conference, answering a journalist’s question, Interior Minister Toshkovski, who is also the head of the Steering Committee for Coordination and Management of the Crisis Management System, stated that police and the Army shouldn’t provide security for water supply systems.
Every institution responsible for these systems within municipalities is obligated to carry out the tasks and responsibilities prescribed to it according to regulations, he assessed.
