Regarding SDSM’s call for his institution to investigate whether Government Secretary General Igor Janushev has hidden a connection to companies based in Bulgaria, the President of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) Cucul said on Wednesday the SCPC was monitoring public reports. He highlighted that though the SCPC had limited capacities to investigate assets abroad, it would make an effort to verify the claims. Cucul added that the SCPC had previously opened a case related to Janushev’s assets and interests.
“Action on that case is ongoing. However, within the framework of this case, we will also include these allegations regarding the potential ownership of companies abroad”, the SCPC President explained.
Asked about the matter, Janushev told Telma to submit its questions to the Government, which afterwards denied the allegations.
