At a press conference on Wednesday, SDSM leader Filipche called for a referendum to enable citizens, as he said, to decide whether they are in favor of joining the EU. In that regard, he continued his criticism of PM Mickoski, Foreign Minister Mucunski, and President Siljanovska Davkova.
According to the SDSM leader, the price of “isolation” will be paid by citizens and younger generations, not by officials of VMRO-DPMNE. Filipche warned that the government was once again manipulating citizens with lies about Europe and identity.
In response to Filipche’s demand, the Government said taxpayers’ time and money shouldn’t be wasted. It added that EU membership was its strategic orientation, which was demonstrated through actions.
Next week, European Council President Costa will visit North Macedonia. During last year’s visit to Skopje, he said the constitutional changes process was the key condition on the EU path.
