Skopje-based Faculty of Civil Engineering experts have warned that the excavated pit on Teodosij Gologanov Boulevard, where a landslide occurred on Monday during the construction of a building, must be urgently backfilled to prevent the danger of new landslides and potential tragedy.
The investor has accepted the proposal for the pit to be backfilled. Other recommendations, too, were made at the crisis meeting held over the issue. According to assessments, the instability of the terrain poses a serious risk to surrounding structures and citizen safety.
During inspections, it was determined that construction work had been carried out at the location without proper supervision. Authorities established that the company responsible for supervision hadn’t inspected the construction works.
