On Wednesday, PM Mickoski fiercely criticized the decision of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption to halt the financial aspect of the investigation into the Mazut case. He warned that if the case was not re-examined, the Office would lose its credibility.
The PM said he’d talked, by phone, to Prosecutor General Saveski the previous day.
“He informed me that he had not been informed about this decision of the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption led by Islam Abazi, and I assume that after the appeal filed by ESM, the case will be reconsidered and returned for re-analysis,” he noted.
Saveski’s Cabinet said that the Prosecutor General couldn’t prevent anyone from calling him on the phone. As it explained, Tuesday was the first time when the PM called him, “but at no point during the conversation were details of a specific case discussed”.
The Cabinet added that the PM had been told the same thing that had been publicly announced yesterday by the Prosecutor’s Office to media. On the other hand, SDSM said Mickoski was directly dictating tasks to Saveski, demanding that the PM resign immediately.
