There is a place for all Western Balkan states in the EU, Enlargement Commissioner Kos said before Monday’s Foreign Affairs Council.
“Enlargement is the priority for the European Union and if our candidates deliver, then we have to deliver too”, she pointed out.
According to the Commissioner, there is a discussion on the possibility of gradual integration including not only in relation to the single market, but also when it comes to defense cooperation.
Foreign policy chief Kallas said cooperation regarding hybrid threats would be discussed. After the meeting, the EU foreign policy chief stated that the Western Balkans was a strategic priority for the EU and there had been discussions on different issues.
“Ministers gave their political endorsement to deepen cooperation with our Western Balkans partners on foreign, security and defense matters. Concretely, this means more EU support against hybrid threats and disinformation”, she noted.
